My name is Marie, and I live at the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, with my husband John and our three fur-kids.

Our home is decorated in an eclectic style -- there is a touch of traditional country and Australian rustic furniture, mixed with English cottage florals, and Shaker simplicity teamed with European elegance. I decorate with my heart. If I love something, I make it work somewhere in our home. I love teaming pretty vintage finds with new pieces to create a serene and comfortable home.

In 2006, our former home at Mount Glorious was showcased in a decorating magazine -- which led to a number of requests to provide colour consulting services. Following on from this, I decided to share my joy for all things "interior" more widely, thereby creating Ruby & Rose Interiors.

I am addicted to country decorating magazines, and adore Australian Country Collections; French Provincial; Australian Country Style; Country Home Ideas; Country Living (UK edition); Country Homes & Interiors; BBC Homes & Antiques; Romantic Homes; Period Living; Veranda; and Victorian Homes. They offer such inspiration.

Some of my favourite things are: roses; pink and chocolate colour schemes; the original TG Green cornishware; Victoriana; Venetian mirrors; clocks; enamelware; depression glass; bird houses; gingham; faded floral fabrics; cameos and silhouettes; anaglypta wallpaper; and a scrummy piece of chocolate cake with a fabulous strong coffee!

PASSION FOR DESIGN
As a graphic designer, colour and design are my passion. Completing an interior decorating course a number of years ago confirmed my belief that home decorating is another form of artistic expression.

January 2008 saw the extension of this dream -- with the opening of my store at the very beautiful Montville on the Sunshine Coast. Sadly this dream came to an end in October 2011, when I closed the store -- however I still continue to trade online, sharing my finds with customers from around the world.
